St. John’s joins the Race as a Charity Partner in 2021
The Cellcom Green Bay Marathon is directing this year’s proceeds to organizations supporting COVID-19 relief efforts with a focus on hard hit areas of hunger, homelessness and mental health. This includes St. John’s Homeless Shelter as well as our community partners at Casa ALBA Melanie, New Community Shelter, Oneida Nation Emergency Food Pantry, Paul’s Pantry, Disabled American Veterans Green Bay Chapter 3, and The Gathering Place.
Meet Mike, St. John’s “Marathon Mascot”
In 2020, Mike Parins won the Adult Volunteer Award in the 32nd Annual WPS Volunteer Awards for his contributions to St. John’s community outreach and health and safety program. Now in 2021, he is donning his race costume and encouraging you to get involved in the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon to help our homeless brothers and sisters at St. John’s. “I know I look pretty silly,” Mike says, “but it’s the least I can do to help St. John’s.” Mike will be providing updates, tips and encouraging you to get involved between now and the fundraising deadline date of April 18.
Because the race is virtual this year, there are many options for you, your family, friends and neighbors to sign-up for. When you sign-up, you can create a fundraising page and start raising funds for St. John’s or you can simply make a donation. You can go the distance with the marathon or half marathon or try out the relay or 5k options for shorter distances that you can run or walk. The other great option is the 100 miles in May Challenge, where you can run, walk, swim, bike or crawl your way to 100 miles anytime throughout the month.
We all know we’ve been in a COVID haze, so join Mike and our St. John’s family to get active for a good cause!
