At Wellspring, the Art and Anxiety group’s focus is on discussing anxiety in a non-threatening manner. At the same time, it involves use of a tool for reducing anxiety. Each group starts with a short relaxation exercise. The format varies between using adult coloring sheets and discussing anxiety issues while coloring or free drawing on a selected topic and discussing the drawing and what it represents. With free drawings, guests have gained insights that have surprised them after reviewing their drawing. No artistic talent is required. A guest reported after attending the group she realized she had issues with anxiety and sought treatment with positive results.
